Techniques and Color Palette

I have lived and worked in many different countries, and these experiences have influenced me deeply.  My artistic vision strives to express the universality of our human condition: our shared longings, struggles, and passions, and the roots of our happiness.  I use imagery, colors, shapes, and design elements that evoke a universal response and transcend national and cultural barriers.

Techniques and Color Palette

My techniques include wheel throwing and slab building. I decorate my pots with slips, underglaze painting, carving (sgraffito) and creative glaze applications.  I fire in an electric kiln.

My color palette includes: blues like the sky above us and the sea around us, greens like those of the plant world, whites like the clouds and the snow, and browns and grays like the earth, rocks, and woods.

Function

I make functional pots, and I pay attention to the details.  The handles have to be comfortable and support the weight of the vessel and its contents.  The lids have to fit.  The spouts have to pour.  Of course, the pots have to go in the oven, the microwave and the dishwasher, so I think about how they will fit in there.  All of my glazes are food safe.
